On February 10, 2024, Himgiri zee University School of Legal studies organized a visit to Dehradun district jail, Sudhowala in Uttarakhand. The aim was to familiarize students with prison administration and the concept of correctional institutions. Around fifty two students along with Dean(SLS) Dr. Shalini Bahuguna Assistant professors Dr. Kanak joshi, Mr.shivam raj, Ms. Huma sardar obtained special permission to explore the prison’s setup, infrastructure, and prisoner treatment. They visited male and female cells, including juvenile and solitary confinement rooms, observing the conditions and facilities provided.
The visit enhanced students’ practical knowledge of the reformative approach in Indian prisons.
